Pre-Engineering Services
At BM Process Management, we believe every project must be built on solid foundations. This is where the pre-engineering study comes in. Our pre-engineering study is the phase where ideas are turned into clear technical outlines, effectively laying the groundwork for the project. This work takes place before further engineering starts and before any procurement decisions are made. Our goal is to help clients understand whether a project is feasible, how it can be designed safely and efficiently, and what investment it would require.Scope of Work
Early, decision-ready definitions that de-risk execution and align stakeholders on compliance, cost, and constructability.
User Requirements Specification (URS)
The key to successful projects is to understand the needs you actually have. These are outlined in our URS document, that we draft in close cooperation with you, the end client.
Process Flow Diagrams
We map out the complete Process Streams and Operations, and develop clear flow diagrams that highlight material balances, utilities, and integration points for better design and decision making.
Basis of Design (BoD)
The basis of design is a step that is often overlooked. We however see the BoD as the key document in any project: it is the lifeblood of the project. In the BoD all relevant requirements.
Functional Design Specifications (FDS)
We define the arrangement of product transfer points. This includes loading arms, containment areas, vehicle flow, and operator safety zones.
Facility Layout Planning
We identify emissions from the process (both to air and water), and outline the possible emission control- and treatment systems.
Pump and Line Sizing
This includes early identification of compressed air, nitrogen, cooling water, power, and steam requirements. We provide load estimates and define system boundaries.
Product Flow and Logistics
We define the arrangement of product transfer points. This includes loading arms, containment areas, vehicle flow, and operator safety zones.
Emission Control Planning
We identify emissions from the process (both to air and water), and outline the possible emission control- and treatment systems.
Utility System Mapping
This includes early identification of compressed air, nitrogen, cooling water, power, and steam requirements. We provide load estimates and define system boundaries.
HAZID / What-If Studies
As part of the pre-engineering we start early with exploring the potential safety risks of the project by conducting a HAZID or What-If study. Safety first, also with our pre-engineering approach.
Cost and Risk Estimates
We provide high-level CAPEX and OPEX estimates using recent benchmarks. We also highlight key risks such as zoning, environmental limits, and constructability challenges.
Benefits
Make confident early stage decisions with clear, compliance ready insights and a practical route to the most effective solution.
Informed decision making; reduced risk
Define the most optimal and effective solutions
Clear insight into compliance and process safety at an early stage
