Owner's Engineer Services - BM Process Management

Owner's Engineer Services

Knowledge is power. However, specialist knowledge isn’t always available in-house — and that’s where we step in. As part of your project team, BM Process provides independent technical oversight from feasibility to start-up. We make sure engineering choices, permits, contractor work, and execution plans align with your technical and commercial goals. From first ideas to training your operators, we’re here to make your project run smoother.

As part of your extended team, we review documentation, participate in decision-making, and assist during key phases such as design development, procurement, construction, and commissioning. Our role is to represent your interests at all times, maintaining control over safety, scope, and quality.

Scope of Work

Design Review and Technical Validation

We review process documentation including PFDs, P&IDs, layouts, specifications, and 3D models to ensure they align with project goals and compliance requirements.

Interface and Scope Coordination

We help coordinate interfaces between different engineering disciplines (process, automation, mechanical, electrical) and between contractors or suppliers.

Vendor and Procurement Support

We assist in the evaluation of vendor offers, review of datasheets, technical bid clarifications, and participation in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).

Construction and Commissioning Oversight

We provide on-site or remote support during construction and commissioning phases, helping identify deviations, manage punch lists, and troubleshoot technical issues.

Safety and Compliance Monitoring

We monitor alignment with regulatory obligations, ATEX zoning, pressure system compliance (PED), and functional safety design as needed.

Change and Variation Review

We evaluate technical impact and cost implications of change orders, helping you make well-informed project decisions.

Our Approach as Owner's Engineer

We maintain an impartial position, separate from contractors and vendors. Our team works directly with your internal stakeholders to ensure that technical, safety, and financial priorities are upheld throughout the project.

We provide technical continuity and support at critical moments—especially when you need someone to challenge, confirm, or guide decisions based on real engineering insight.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should we bring in an Owner's Engineer?

Ideally before engineering begins. Early involvement allows us to influence key technical decisions and catch misalignments before they lead to rework or cost increases.

Can you support just one phase (e.g., commissioning)?

Yes. We provide focused support during commissioning, FATs, start-up planning, or any other stage where an experienced technical partner is needed.

How do you add value if we already have an EPC contractor?

We represent you. We provide independent review and challenge where necessary, ensuring your scope, quality expectations, and regulatory requirements are not compromised. We bring expert knowledge and expertise to the table, at the time it matters most for you.

Do you offer multidisciplinary review?

Yes. Our team includes expertise in process engineering, piping, mechanical, safety, automation, instrumentation, and utilities. We coordinate between these areas to maintain consistency and reduce design conflicts.
